French Doors
(aka French Windows)

French doors, sometimes known as French Windows, are a type of patio door.  They are mounted via sturdy hinges, and consist of two doors with glass panes, which can be opened together or independently.  Doors can feature equal, or non-equal split panes.  A versatile choice, you can decide whether you wish to have the doors open inwards or outwards, dependent upon where you require the most space – inside the room, or outside in your garden, or on the patio/decking.

At Landmark, we supply and install both uPVC and aluminium French doors in Plymouth, both of which are constructed using quality thermally broken profile, ready to withstand the unpredictable British weather and help control temperature fluctuations.  Thermally efficient systems are beneficial to you as the customer, as they can help to reduce your energy bills.  We can offer standard-design French doors, or designer options, to suit your preference and budget.

GlazingAesthetics

A cheaper alternative to bifolds, French windows are best with toughened glass, and can be manufactured with either double-glazed or triple-glazed options, depending on size and configuration.  Typically, UV values will be between 1.2W/m2K and 1.4W/m2K.  Glass can be either transparent, or opaque, with a number of options available.

Our French doors are low maintenance.  uPVC doors will require intermittent cleaning with a damp cloth or mild detergent.  For aluminium doors, the high-grade aluminium with powder-coated finish protects the profile, and requires little-to-no maintenance.

Choose from a range of RAL colours, in woodgrain or smooth finishes – speak to us during your home visit for colour options for both uPVC and aluminium.  Marine grade aluminium is available for salt-air environments.

Would You Like Traditional Style with a Contemporary Look & Performance?

French doors originated as you would expect, in France during C16 and C17.  Letting in light from the floor, upwards, they allow in more light than standard windows, and also give you the option of opening your home or business to allow maximum ventilation and light.  Call us for more details.
